New Hope Behavioral Health Center, Inc. is an outpatient substance abuse behavioral healthcare clinic (OTP--outpatient treatment program) that specializes in opioid use disorder. We partner with outside health care professionals to integrate and manage the very difficult and delicate task of stabilizing and titrating their opiate dependent patients. This is challenging, but rewarding work, and it enables one to distinguish between legitimate pain and induced pain associated with Withdrawal Syndrome. Generally, patients with legitimate pain are prescribed pain medication. Often times, managing these patients' long term can be taxing and risky when the provider begins to feel as though the patient is drug-seeking. Ethically, it can be difficult to refuse to continue care…..but what option do providers have? We at NEW HOPE are the option. Download Brochure Research indicates that more than 191 million opioid prescriptions were dispensed to American patients in 2017. National drug abuse surveys have shown a dramatic increase of individuals who have used opioid pain relievers illegally in their lifetime. In 2016 an estimated 11.5 million Americans used prescription type pain medications for non-medically related reasons. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) between 1999 and 2016 more than 630,000 people died from a drug overdose in the United States. The current epidemic of drug overdose began in the 1990’s driven by dramatic increases in prescribing of opioids for chronic pain. Today approximately 35% of our patients are admitted with the primary diagnosis of opioid addiction to pain pills. New Hope Behavioral Health Center, Inc. (NHBHC), recognizes that all patients who are physically dependent on and psychologically addicted to prescription opioid pain medications are a result of many imbalances that require expert medical treatment and intervention in a safe, humane, and effective treatment environment, encapsulated in confidentiality.
